How much does shipping cost?
Any two items ship free. Everything else is a flat $7 anywhere in the U.S. Shipping usually costs us more than that, but we'd rather keep it simple than build the difference into the price of a jar.
How long does it take?
Give us one to two business days to get your order out the door, since we pack these ourselves. Delivery is usually two to seven days after that depending on where you are.
What if I don’t like it?
If you're not happy we're not happy. Return or exchange anything within 30 days of delivery. Email team@levante-skin.com and we’ll set it up. Return shipping may come out of the refund.
How long does a return take?
About five to seven business days once it reaches us.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Email team@levante-skin.com. If it hasn’t shipped, we can change or cancel it right away. If it already shipped, we’ll refund you once it arrives.
My order showed up damaged.
Email team@levante-skin.com with a photo and we’ll send a replacement. No need to send the damaged one back.
USING LEVANTE
Will it make my face greasy?
Only if you use as much as you would a lotion. Tallow is concentrated, so warm a pea-sized amount between your fingers and press it in. It goes on thinner than you expect.
How much should I use?
Less than you think. Pea-sized covers a whole face. If it feels heavy, you used too much.
Morning or night?
Either. Most people land on night, because that’s when there’s time.
How long does a jar last?
A 2oz jar of face moisturizer is about two months of nightly use. A 1oz is about a month and fits in a diaper bag. Body Balm runs a couple of months if you’re using it a few times a week.
Can I use the face products on my body?
You can. Body Balm is built for it, with jojoba and olive oil so it spreads over more skin without feeling heavy. But nothing goes wrong if you use Pure Tallow on your hands.
Which one should I start with?
Pure Tallow if you want the shortest possible ingredient list. Rose Petallow if you want it to smell like something. Santallow if you want warm and earthy instead of floral. If you’d rather not decide, take the quiz.
Does it melt?
In a hot car or on a summer porch, yes. Tallow softens well below the temperature it takes to hurt it. Bring it inside, let it set back up, and it’s fine. The texture may be a little different than when it left us, which is what happens when there’s no stabilizer in the jar.
How long does it keep?
About a year from when you open it. There are no preservatives in these, which is the point, so store it out of direct sun and use clean fingers.
SAFETY
Is it safe for my baby?
Pure Tallow and the unscented Body Balm are made without essential oils, which is why those two are what we pair in the Mom + Baby set. Patch test a small spot first, the way you would with anything new. If your little one has particularly sensitive skin, ask your pediatrician.
Can I use it while pregnant?
Plenty of our customers do. If you’d rather skip essential oils entirely, Pure Tallow and the unscented Body Balm are the two to reach for. If you have any concern at all, your OB is the right person to ask, not us.
I have sensitive skin.
If your skin reacts to everything, start with Pure Tallow. One ingredient, nothing added, nothing to react to.
Here's why it tends to sit well: tallow is made of the same fats your skin already produces, mostly oleic, stearic, and palmitic acid. It isn't a formula built to imitate your skin barrier. It's closer to the real thing than anything that comes out of a lab.
Still, everyone is different. Patch test a small spot first, the way you would with anything new. Give it a couple of weeks before you decide, because skin that's been stripped and re-moisturized for years takes a minute to settle.
Does it clog pores?
Tallow closely mimics the oils your skin already makes, which is why it tends to sit well on dry and sensitive skin. If your skin runs oily, start with a small amount at night and see how you get on. Everyone’s skin is different and we’re not going to pretend otherwise.
OUR TALLOW
Does it smell like beef?
No. Pure Tallow smells faintly like nothing. We render our suet twice, which takes the beef out of it. The scented ones smell like what’s in them, because it’s real essential oil and not fragrance.
Where does the tallow come from?
Grass-fed, grass-finished cattle on Texas ranches we buy from directly. No brokers, no commodity fat. We render it ourselves and whip it by hand in small batches.
Is it organic?
Not certified organic, and we’d rather say so plainly. Our tallow comes from 100% grass-fed, grass-finished cattle. Our essential oils come from organic farms and trusted producers. No artificial fragrance, no parabens, no synthetic preservatives.
Why is it more expensive than drugstore lotion?
Grass-fed tallow isn’t cheap, and Bulgarian rose is one of the most expensive essential oils there is. There’s nothing in the jar bringing the price down. One jar also lasts a long time.
